Re: Almighty?

Well of course the Northern part..
But Korea practically intersects Japan.
Did our Navy not patrol the Northern part of Korean Peninsula
as well as the Sea of Japan?

In Korea we had the Peninsula surrounded

Dan,

We didn't have the peninsula surrounded. We didn't control the northern boundary of he peninsula. Manchuria provided the main base of support for the Communists. The Soviet Union was located on the extreme NE corner of Korea. And they were allowed to provide their direct support from there. And as is well known, UN air forces were forbidden to bomb beyond the northern boundary of Korea.

Some military historians ascribe this to a failure of MacArthur's strategy as he wanted to fight the war as he did in World War II, fighting on islands that were surrounded and controlled by the U.S.
