Hmm good question, except for carriers, their escorts, and submarines I don't think any major US Navy fleet elements patrolled north of Wonsan after the Chinese entered the war and UN forces moved back behind the 38th parallel. Not sure about the West Coast. Most assuredly Navy Seaplanes and land based patrol bombers/reconn aircraft did patrol all over the place, and some of them were shot down on these patrols.
