Re: Korean War & Vietnam War

Bob, believe what you will. Why let facts interfere?

I don't believe Rhee ran a "free" government. Very people were really free then, and very few are free now. In order for people to be free they must they must govern themselves. So many countries have proven time after time they are not capable of self-government. That is why most of them end up with dictators. The best they can hope for is a benign dictator. The reason we find ourselves supporting so many dictators is because these are the leaders so many people allow to rule their countries.

What am I missing here? The Korean War was not a US response, but rather a UN response, not to save S. Rhee's Government, but to repell an armed agressor from a free Nation.

It seems to me that the US went to the UN to intervene in Korea. The UN did not go to the US looking for the US to intervene. Do you really believe that Rhee ran a free government? Don Gill
