Korea was free, and remains free today, because the US went to the UN, and persuaded them that the aggression perpetrated on S. Korea, should be resisted on moral and ethical grounds, by the World Community. Had the UN not responded to the need for intervention, it would have been as feckless and impotent as the old League of Nations.
