The P51 was a lot cheaper to maintain.
Its cost value made it far more important in that
it took
half the gas to go a lot farther.
Anyway it seems we sent the remaining of our P/F47
To Tiawan.
Supposedly got in a Dogfight witht the Chinese Migs
in 1958
and shot down two Mig15's

IMO it didn't
fit the bill for the Bomber Barons who only wanted bombers and interceptors.
The F-51 fit the bill, and the cupboard was bare for funds to maintain the
P-47 squadrons.
