Re: Korean War & Vietnam War

SK had no democracy in place that I know of.
After WW2 the US essentially wrote Japans Constitution.
I do not think any of that was in place with Rhee.
Until after the War...

I would have to ask Cookie or Sandy who wrote the SK Constitution

Interest know of the Rhee family in the USA...
They were very autocratic as I remember...
Opened many Martial Arts Studios and Resturants..
Fought in many tournaments against their fighters...

About 3 years ago Chiang Kai-sheks number 2 man passed away in Washington DC
A totally unasumming man running a Chinese Resturant in China Town WDC..

Rhee, may have been a SOB, but he was our SOB

True!

But how many Americans know what the SOB did under his dictatorial rule
supported by hundreds of million dollars of our tax money?
He was nothing more than a fascist butcher in East Asia, like Saddam
Hussein in Iraq, killing some 100,000 S.Korean people by 6/1950.
He was willing to do anything to keep himself in power.
And yet, American officials and Mac touted Rhee
as a freedom-loving, democratic leader, because he happened to be
a strong anti-communist.

Maybe US has succeeded in keeping S.K. under US control
by supporting Rhee and other military dictators in S.K..
But it is at an enormous cost in lives and property--both Americans
and Koreans. And the end is not in sight yet.
