| Why did the US support this fascist dictator named Rhee? I uinderstand that the US has a long histroy of supporgting dictatorial regimes, and that the Korean 'police action' even tho supposedly a UN operation, was primarily a US war. I certainly see that the US has not helped produce a real democracy in Korea, but what was the strategic interest of the US to support that dictator? I mean at that, why not to support an other man? Which generaals and politicians of the both countries benefitted from this arrangement? From where did this gent come out, to rise to such prominence? Was he simply a US puppet? |
