I just turned 53 and, yes, I DO recall the Korean War. I recall seeing
MISSOURI when she returned from her final Korean deployment. Yes, I recall
the war that began when I was six months old. VIVID memories of my
parents bitching about Truman's failures and my father's repeated plaint
that the War would have been won if ONLY MacArthur had been left in charge.
(My parents both voted for Eisenhower in both of his campaigns, but felt
him to be a nebbish. They were, of course, correct.)

I heard all of this, repeatedly, clear up to the outbreak of the Viet-Nam
Imbroglio ....

My mother will STILL tell you that Truman was wrong and MacArthur was right
and she gets angry with me when I point out the problems MacArthur faced in
1950 and '51 and the mistakes he made.
