Bill, I wasn't ridiculing anyone. The thought just struck me as funny. It
is true that BAR men and their assistants wore web suspenders to hold up
their heavy ammunition belts. I was an assistant BAR man.

C'mon Bob, don't ridicule the man. He asked
a perfectly straightforward question about wearing of the Ike Jacket and
Woolen ODs. I'm like you regarding the suspenders as the only suspenders
I remember seeing were those worn by BAR men and their assistants who needed
the suspenders to help carry the magazines and maybe a couple of other
uses. I did have a pair issued to me to wear with a pair of rubberized
fatique pants during the Spring of '52 but I soon got rid of those hot
things. They even had a button or two for each cuff to keep out the
snow/ice.
But Dress ODs with suspenders, no
way.

HAHAHAHA. A guy with suspenders would be laughed out of any barracks I
was ever in. I think some Limeys wear them with their uniforms,
though.

Hi,
Thank you all for your
comments. I recently but a Ike jacket that fits great but it kept
riding up over the belt when I wore it. I even tried to pull the
pants up a little higher and tighten the belt but that got to be a bit
much. Were suspenders ever used with the wool dress pants?
There are buttons inside the dress pants.
