Gene, Jerry, that artificial moonlight worked wonders when
we needed it; however, those flares were the longest-burning rascals
ever when they popped overhead when un-needed while on a patrol! Sure
made a guy feel naked and vulnerable. When needed they were highly
welcomed!

Speaking of show biz, any searchlight operators out
there? It took some guts to operate a searchlight on the front lines.
Anybody nostalgic for the mortar-launched parachute flares? Remember the
rule, stop dead when you hear the launch and look down, I
believe.
