Re: Looking for a Little Help....

This is for anyone who can answer, since Red Round and Ray Sestak asked about the same incident on the list recently (correct?) I'm wondering what exactly do the "official channels" say when approached? I'm assuming crew family members are interests persons in this, so there's no question of their standing to ask (as opposed to somebody just asking because they were curious about history). Is there a mechanism to ask the DPMO their findings in a case? Is it that they don't answer or it's just suspected they reallly do know things they say they don't know?

Hello Les:

Thanks for the info.  I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear in my posting.  I have the Interrogation Report and the Finding of Death Report relative to this incident.  Both are pretty detailed.  What I am looking for is someone "outside the official channels" that may know something about the retrieval of the crewmembers whose bodies were recovered, or the whereabouts of the rest of the crew.  There was a report about Major Keene, but then it's like they all disappeared from the face of the earth....I know it's been over 50 years, but I just attended a crew reunion with some of Major Keene's close friends, and they are just as upset by the way things have been handled as they were 50 years ago.  I want to help put their minds at rest, if possible.

Again, thanks for the help.  Take care.

Regards,

Ray Sestak

I am looking for anyone who may recall details relative to a B-29 shootdown that occured at approximately 01:00 hours, 19 November, 1952.  The aircraft serial number was 44-66392.  I am particularly interested in details of the recovery efforts conducted, as well as any information relative to the crew in the subsequent months and years.  It is believed that the entire crew bailed out of the aircraft, and reached the ground/water near Cho'Do Island.  One crewmember drowned, and one was shot on the Korean mainland.

I am especially interested in a member of the crew named Major Kassel Monford Keene.  There had been several reports that Major Keene was being held in captivity after his capture, and had been sentenced to 2 1/2 years for fighting with another prisoner.  The "trial" took place in July of 1953.  Due to this sentence, Major Keene was not to be released during the repatriation efforts, and nothing further has ever been reported.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have any information about this loss.  To learn more detail about the incident, please visit my web site at:  http://home.att.net/~myron.sestak   Thank you very much for your consideration.

Regards,
