I started out with the 48 infintry division National Guard. Went RA after one year. Did learn how to shoot and field strip weapons in tjhe Guard. OLD SAYING Never fear the Guard is here. Most of the men in my Guard outfit were WW11 soilders and in the guard for their own reasons. Some of them were old, but they knew what war was about. When I left to go to the regular Army some of the men would have loved to go with me but as with us now their time was passed.
