Re: Aircraft Used in Korea-B-29 v. Yak

B-29's first struck Hungnam on series of raids code named "Nannie" going
after the chemical complexes there, said to be the biggest in Asia at the
time. All three were by the 22nd and 92nd Bomb Groups, 47 planes in "Nannie
Able" July 30, 46 in "Baker" Aug 1, 39 in "Charlie" Aug 3, after which the
plants were judged neutralized. I wonder if that sounds like your
experience.

That's from Futrell "USAF in Korea", but it doesn't mention air opposition
specifically. I also happen to have some original stuff from the 92nd BG;
it says no enemy aircraft were observed on those 3 missions. But I don't
have anything for the 22nd BG.

B-29's came back to the area later in August and September going after rail
targets, then the dams inland.
