Hi, Ed,
Robert Keiser was at the Kuni Ri Pass on 30 November, 1950, and was
nominated for the CMH for his actions on that day. He needs more
corroborative evidence in order to actually receive the medal, so he's
looking for firsthand accounts, in any form, of the events of that day and
his role in it. (I'm his daughter and his conscripted researcher in this
project, and I'll send all info along to him.) Thank! Kathleen<<
In this case you have a tough road ahead. You will have to locate people
in your father's outfit who were there on that day because they are the
only ones with personal knowledge of your father's actions that day. All
other accounts are "second hand" in the eyes of the Medal of Honor board.
This said, if the nomination went forward for consideration there will be a
paper trail, including statements by those around him at the time of the
action, even if the nomination was rejected. These documents will be in
the National Archives and Records Administration files because these files
were kept in Washington, thus not destroyed in the St. Louis fire. Also,
if your father received a lesser award for that action, the General Orders
awarding the decoration will also be at NARA as well as the back up
documentation -- the recommendation, statements, etc. All can be located
but it means a visit to the National Archives and several days research.
Bottom line is if you locate the documentation, it will give you names and
with this you should be able to run some of the people down.

Ed
