Re: korean-war.com (off topic)



   Actually, I have been at peace for a long time. The nightmares didn't
really last very long. The judicuious use of Falstaff beer may have helped
some in this respect. It has probably been 50 years since I would duck when
I heard a car backfire.
   Life did move on quickly in Korea. And now, thanks to the watchful eyes
of about 40,000 American G.I.s Korea has become one of the most prosperous
nations in Asia.
    The people in America have given scant notice to this war, because we
weren't really fighting to protect America. North Korea posed little or no
threat to the U.S. but it posed a very dire threat to South Korea, and they
seem to have forgotten that we removed that threat .... and have held it at
bay for 50 years.
