Back in 1950, a Sgt. from the 5th RCT USA, looked into a knocked out T-34 and to his surprise, he was looking down at a dead Russian in full uniform. He removed some of the emblems from the uniform as he could not lift the body out by himself.
He turned in the items at the rear and that was the last he ever saw them or heard about his find. Up until a few years ago, that Sgt. was still alive, as he wrote about the tank in one of the Assn newsletters.
