Marc,

Russian histories and current stories on the air war do not mention any 
Germans, and considering the relationship they had with Germany in 1950-53 (e.g. 
totally subjugated satellite nation) may just be disinformation. It may also 
have been some wiseguys who were told they couldn't use Russian on the air and 
couldn't/wouldn't learn Chinese. It's another option.
