John, for a fact, Marine Corsairs did give close air support, because we had "bed check charlie" come in on us one night, and dropped a couple of hand grenades, beleive it or not. They got Bn. Hdq'trs, and a couple of the officers had shrapnel in their "butts". Half hour later word came over the phone, ( I was on the phone that nite) that Marine Corsairs got Charlie,------- True story
