Re: New Book

Dick,
Congratulations and great saleing!  Do add it to AMAZON.COM's list under various descriptions that will guarantee its visibility to anyone searching "Korean War."  Ask Amazon to let you display your first three (3) chapters on the page that displays your book, so that Amazon visitors can review them.  Don't be afraid to include the 3 chapters on top sites!

See how many LINKS you can develop with anything associated with the "Korean War."  Contact anyone with a good web site!  Ask them to LINK with you--back and forth, that is.  And remember what Ann Coulter says about all her best selling books: "No matter who you are you must go out and sell your book!"  So...get on talk shows no matter how small the audience.  Talk about the Korean War.  Talk about this site:   KOREAN-WAR-L@listproc.cc.ku.edu.  A brief description of one guy--friend or foe--you knew in the war is always good.  The interesting people on this site--just hint at their "stories."  Remember, get permission from those whom you want to quote!  Then try the phone-to-radio sales interview!  That is heard all round the world--if the weather's right.  You've got a large book and a good price!  One last trick: send out 20 books with the words "For Review Only" stamped along the book's tightly closed longitudinal paper edge--not the binding covering by which the leaves of a book are bound.  Use only a well-cut rubber stamp that fits perfectly in large CAPS and black ink!  I used to do 100 every half hour.  Tell those you've sent it to that you'd appreciate their review of your book for inclusion in a 2nd edition.  But pick realistic people!  Maybe some highly placed officer who served in Korea, or a Private who was the most decorated.  Get a wide-view of endorsements for your readers to realize you know what you're writing about.  Place a deadline on the reviews, but do not offer money.  As recently as 8 years ago, very rich and successful people, who were asked to do this without the "For Review Only" stamping along the paper edge of the book, returned the books after reading them just to get their money back!  Appalling!  But the "For Review Only" stops that dead in it's tracks!  You don't have to come out of pocket for the refunded amount!
