Spam and Virus Messages

I apologize for not having been with you the past few days. The
computer repairman said that he "should" have my computer fixed
by Thursday. He lied, and = being incompetent concerning computer
innards, it took me some time to figure out how to make an old
computer cotton to my cable connection.

All that aside, the recent deluge of virus messages you may have
been receiving - Ed tells me that listproc has been blocking a
large number addressed to KOREAN-WAR-L - are apparently the
result of a trojan horse that has been hiding in a large number
of computers and was released by its owner a few days ago. Some
rather large IPs have had their mail programs overwhelmed by the
sheer number of these messages. Even so, the internet e-mail
traffic has increased by more than 25%.

I would suggest that everybody in the world and on the
International Space Station do a complete virus scan of their
machines. If everybody will take my advice, the current spate
should soon be over.
