thanks cookie, & i know what you mean about having
another language helping out with research. i just
picked up spanish four years ago (i'm 42), and it has
opened up a whole new world of reading that exists
only in that language.

i bought the xiaoming zhang book this week, and will
be tackling it directly. 

once again, thanks to everyone here. in just a few
hours, y'all have really pushed forward my learning
trajectory on this. i'm going to write diego regarding
the thoughtful criticisms posted here of igor siedov's
work. i'll be in touch!
