where to go next?

thanks for your quick reply, cookie. clearly, there is
a discrepency somewhere. why would the NY Times have
accurate accounts of most kills that May, matching
USAF dates, but not for this one on April 30th?

because of the way pete died, no one has done any
serious biographical work on him. (military writers
seem to shy away from morally ambigious stuff
sometimes...) anyway. it's likely the USAF information
has never been examined in 50 years. look what i
turned up with a simple cross-check against
contemporary newspaper accounts. 

how would i go about looking at all of this in depth?
I have already contacted the historical folks at
maxwell AFB & the historian for the 4th FIW Assoc.;
i'm awaiting responses from both parties.
