The Soviets redesignated all of the early model Yak-9U (either usovershentsvovaniye or usilniye, improved or stronger) and Yak-9T aircraft into Yak-9P for "perekhvatchik" or interceptors.
I think that one was abandoned at one of the air bases we overran. The KPAFAC was short pilots at the beginning of the war, and only had a handful (most of whom were shot down in short order) that could fly the aircraft -- something like 3 times as many aircraft as pilots, if I read the Russian article correctly.
And then the USAF scrapped it...
