After reading Mr. Mooney's email, I'd be interested in hearing from anyone
about their knowledge and/or experience with the KMAG assigned to the ROK
Army? This small unit of about 500 +/- goes without hardly a footnote in
the history books. It is my understanding that they saw allot of action
and statistically quit a few of them ended up as POWs. Any thoughts?<<
KMAG did a bang-up job and did suffer some casualties as well as had some
people captured. As a sidebar to the latter, some of 8th Army G-3
Miscellaneous Group's (spec-ops and Partisan) casualties and POW's were
listed as belonging to KMAG since this was their cover story.
Anyway, there is a good Army Historical Series book on KMAG: KMAG IN PEACE
AND WAR by Major Robert K. Sawyer that is available through the government
printing office.
