Hemming allegations RE Pete Fernandez

RE Pete Fernandez:

According to the link you included, Hemming was also
has inside knowledge about the Kennedy assassination.

My first reaction is skeptical.

Regards, Stephen

---hi steve, happy new year!

obviously, i have reasons to want to believe hemming's
story, but i wiil remain true to history and
investigate it as thoroughly as i can. maybe you are a
"oswald did it" man, but i'm not, so i possibly have
less initial hesitation than you to take this man
seriously. as i read hemming's bio and testimony about
the kennedy hit on the web, i become less skeptical,
because his take is not unlike my own. great minds
think alike, ha ha ha.

(you are aware USMC "defector" oswald was part of a
greater intelligence operation that included other
bogus "defectors" in the late 1950s and early 1960s,
no? hemming was one of these...)

leaving the tar baby of the kennedy assassination
aside, i also learned recently from my cousin david
that pete's intelligence work was much more extensive
than any of us knew, covering at least the last 15
years of his life! i thought the theft of the AN-26 in
Peru was an isolated incident; it wasn't. for what
it's worth, pete's widow and children has been
convinced of his undercover work for 23 years, but
jill fernandez is not a flamboyant type to make a big
issue out of it. she had a family to raise, and she is
still working, and has two growing grandsons living in
the house, so she didn't go write a book or anything.

anyhoo, sketicism is always a good quality to bring to
any historical research, so your advice is heeded!
besides, my uncle may not be entirely off the hook
yet: the mileiu involved in this nexus wore many hats;
it could well be that pete was freelancing a load of
pot, CIA operations aside. as you can see from this
article -- and as any serious student of iran/contra
cocaine trafficking knows -- getting to bring in a
personal load of drugs on the side was part of the
"pay" for such work. so Uncle Pete may not end up
exonerated from the smuggling accusations yet... i
will follow this wherever it leads.

check out this testimony by Hemming about intelligence
work and drugs; this is from 1976, four years before
Pete's death:
