Hello all:
With a shorter length and 2/3 as many casualties, Korea has slipped even my mind sometimes -- and I lost a relative there, the last one before my dad to carry on the family surname. He had a dad too though, my great uncle Louie... Anyway as the president who's started a nonprofit to help families of KIA, help healing too, it's interesting to consider World War II, Korea, and Vietnam all together. We want a representative group, and so far we've lost our board member who lost family in Vietnam. We have, for certain, only family from World War II and Korea on it right now, but there could be a Civil War loss as well, a 4G uncle, Edward Pedlow, as there was one apparently KIA. So far I've only confirmed Richard and Thomas and less so, Robert, my 3G grandfather, their brother. The two former men were some of the "First Defenders" actually, from NY besides, with a long family history there, but they were also on my mom's rather than my dad's side...
Thanks for letting me share ideas here. Korea was a major turning point. One sci fi show, "Sliders" had an episode where we lost, and Russia had occupied the U.S., an alternate reality show I guess.
Bye for now,
Vincent
