[KOREAN-WAR-L:11331] Re: List has been very quite

Hi Ed,
I tried to get it started with my request for good books.
and I appreciated the replies I got as well. Might those
who have read some, discuss the pro's and con's of various
presentations?

As I'm a newcomer I guess what I'd like to hear is some
stories. Perhaps someone should be pushing for more films
dealing with the conflict. For example, I loved Band of
Brothers so much that I made a special trip over to
Normandy to visit the sites and pay my respects to the
fallen. I was also fortunate to make contact with one of
the original 'brothers' and chat with him via email. As an
aside, what impressed me so much was that this was during
the whole 'ban french fries' talk and yet when I went to
Normandy, the town lightstandards were covered in American,
British and Canadian flags - the French never have
forgotten...

I also made a special trip to Auschwitz last year to see
and experience it for myself. That being said, I know
nothing about the Korean War but want to. The only thing I
know about the Korean conflict is that the tv show MASH
lasted twice as long. - Okay, that was a bit simplistic but
I have to say that when I hear from a vet. it moves me
considerably. I don't know why though...

Sorry for my rambling, but maybe there's something in the
above that might stir some comments. I'll shut up now. :)
Warmly, Jeff
