[KOREAN-WAR-L:11377] Korean War Info

 Sirs;

  I am a wounded Korean War veteran and I am on a quest to find out just where I was at and find the hill that I was on.

  I was assigned to Company G, 31st Infantry Regiment of the 7th Infantry Division. I was assigned as a member of a 57mm recoilless rifle team. I remember hearing that we were close to Kumhwa and Chorwon and that the hill that we were staring up at was called Hill 1062.

  I don't remember what hill we were on, perhaps it was never  mentioned.

  My interest had never dwindled over the years and I really never had the time to really conduct a search. I an now retired and I was able to get on line about a few months now so I am able to access the internet.

  I now know, I think, that the coordinates for the area mentioned above is close to north 38 deg & 20'  by east 127 deg &27'  I have been able to find 1062 on both US & USSR maps but I still do cannot connect my memory with and other the adjacent hills as being the hil;l that I spent seven months on. This was from August to 7th of October, 1952 when I was wounded in action.

  OK, I would like to recive information about what hill I was on. Also I am willing to share any of my experiences with any one who is interested. So I want all to feel free to email or write to me with any info and any questions.

  I am also a member of the 7th Inf Div Assn and I will also be using their association as any search tool.

  Maps of the Korean War can be obtained from the Library of Congress, try koreanwar.org/html/library_of_congress_maps.html. Also check out lib.berkeley.edu/EART/korea/250k.html   and korea/200k.html.
