8240nd ARMY UNIT

8th Army G-3 Miscellaneous Group was officially formed Jan 15, 1951, although it existed previously as, "Attrition Section, 8th Army G-3." It became an independent unit - 8086th Army Unit - May 5, 1951. The 8086th AU was deactivated Dec 10, 1951 and its personnel/assets transferred to the Far East Command Liaison Detachment, Korea, (FEC/LD[K],) 8240th Army Unit the same day, Dec 10, 1951, when Far East Command took command and control of all military partisan operations, special operations and intelligence operations in Korea. FEC/LD(K) became a sub-unit of Combined Command Reconnaissance Activities, Korea (CCRAK,) 8242nd Army Unit, Oct 6, 1952, when CCRAK was organized as an independent Army Unit and assumed command and control for all military partisan operations, special operations and intelligence operations in Korea. Headquarters, FEC/LD(K,) 8240th AU, was disbanded Sept 1, 1953 although its sub-unit, United Nations Partisan Infantry, Korea, 8240th AU, (formerly United Nations Partisan Forces, Korea, 8240th AU) continued on as a sub-unit of CCRAK until May 1954.
